Victorian rotating cameo mourning brooch
This unusual piece of Victorian mourning antique jewellery features a rotating centre set into what we believe to be a pinchbeck mount. On one side is a shell cameo depicting a lady/godess/angel kneeling and praying, and on the other is a glazed compartment which would have once held a lock of hair but is now empty. The surround features intertwined leaves.
The ornate tubular pinchbeck surround features a scroll design to the top and bottom. There is a hinged pin to the back with an old C-clasp which all looks original.
There are no hallmarks or maker's marks.
Condition: Overall in very good condition for its age. The piece has some tarnishing and scuffing.
The approx. measurements are as follows:
4.3cm high, 3.8cm wide.
